The Cross River State Representative on the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Rt. Hon. Orok Otu Duke, PhD, on Thursday, September 17, 2026, participated in the National Summit of the Forum of All Progressives Congress (APC) Former Presiding Officers of State Houses of Assembly in Nigeria (FOPSHA), held at the Banquet Hall of the State House, Abuja.
The summit, which brought together former presiding officers of State Houses of Assembly and other political stakeholders from across the country, focused on the economic reforms and policy direction of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
With the theme, “Bold Leadership, Bold Reforms: From Subsidy to Renewed Hope, Assessing the Economic Trajectory and Visionary Leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Administration,” the gathering featured presentations, goodwill messages from various geopolitical zones and extensive deliberations on the Federal Government’s economic policies, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy and the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, attended the summit as Special Guest of Honour, alongside other dignitaries and participants.
Rt. Hon. Duke was among the participants at the national gathering, representing Cross River State in the deliberations involving former legislators and political stakeholders on governance, economic reforms and national development.
At the conclusion of the summit, FOPSHA expressed support for the Renewed Hope Agenda and endorsed the economic reform measures of the Federal Government, including the removal of fuel subsidy.
The forum acknowledged the short term difficulties associated with the reforms but maintained that the measures were necessary for long term economic prosperity. It consequently called for sustained public understanding and support for the Renewed Hope Agenda.
FOPSHA also adopted a resolution endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in the 2027 general elections and resolved to mobilise its members across the country in support of the President and his administration.
The forum further resolved to extend the outcome of the summit to communities across the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory, through a nationwide sensitisation and mobilisation campaign.
Under the resolution, former legislators at the national, state and local government levels are expected to engage citizens on the policies and programmes of the Federal Government and promote public awareness of the administration’s reform agenda.
The forum also appealed to the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to consider FOPSHA members as ambassadors in its planned sensitisation and mobilisation activities.
Rt. Hon. Orok Otu Duke’s participation underscores his continued involvement in national political and policy engagements, particularly discussions relating to governance, economic reforms and national development.
