Managed by professionals, our stories follow journalistic principles of ethics, including but not limited to truth, accuracy, facts, independence, objectivity, impartiality, fairness, respect for others and public accountability.
We are a group of individuals who wanted to inform the people about the happenings in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. People have the right to know, so we built Daily Lamp around the people, while doing what we love doing – which is information gathering and dissemination.
Our reports are tailored towards politics, business, metro, crime, opinion, health, sports, technology, education, entertainment, religion, lifestyle, tourism, science & nature, among others.
Fairness
Most stories have at least two sides. While there is no obligation to present every side in every piece, our stories, in most cases, are balanced and add context.
Truth
Journalists cannot always guarantee ‘truth’ but getting the facts right is the cardinal principle of journalism. That’s who we are.
Impartiality
Objectivity is not always possible and may not always be desirable (in the face, for example, of brutality or inhumanity), but impartial reporting builds trust and confidence.
Accuracy
We always strive for accuracy, give all the relevant facts we have, and ensure that they have been checked. When we cannot corroborate information, we say so.
Humanity
Journalists should do no harm. What we publish or broadcast may be hurtful; therefore, we are aware of the impact of our words and images on the lives of others.
Independence
Journalists must be independent voices; we do not act, formally or informally, on behalf of special interests whether political, corporate or cultural. We declare to our editors – or the audience – any of our political affiliations, financial arrangements or other personal information that might constitute a conflict of interest.
