President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, His Eminence Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, on his 70th birthday.
In a statement on Sunday, President Tinubu, on behalf of himself, the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and the government and people of Nigeria, described the Sultan as a remarkable leader whose life has been defined by service, wisdom and grace.
The President said that, for nearly two decades on the throne of his forebears, the Sultan has upheld the finest traditions of the Sokoto Caliphate, particularly scholarship, humility and an unwavering commitment to peace.
President Tinubu described the Sultan as a stabilising voice in times of turbulence, a bridge-builder across faiths and communities, and a moral compass for both the Muslim Ummah and the nation.
He commended the Sultan’s contributions to education, interfaith dialogue, humanitarian service, peaceful coexistence, the girl-child and the dignity of every Nigerian.
President Tinubu also acknowledged the Sultan’s partnership in nation-building, noting his contributions to security, community development and the spiritual well-being of Nigerians.
He prayed that Allah would grant the Sultan many more years in good health, sound mind and continued strength, while preserving him for his family, the Sokoto Caliphate and Nigeria.
President Tinubu congratulated the Sultan once again and prayed that the new decade of his life would be his most rewarding .
