Dr (Mrs) Blessing Egbara, on Sunday, paid a courtesy visit to the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Obubra Chapter, at Grace Embassy Ministry International, Obubra, where she emphasised the need for unity, unwavering faith, and sustained prayers for the peace and progress of Obubra.
The meeting, which was held in a warm atmosphere of fellowship and spiritual reflection, was attended by prominent Christian leaders, including former District Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Obubra District, Rev. Joel Okey; the current District Superintendent, Rev. Philip Anom; Rev. Bang Ojong, alongside other ministers and church leaders.
Speaking during the visit, Dr Egbara said her decision to meet with the church was borne out of her conviction that the Body of Christ remains her immediate constituency. She stressed that the gathering was not a political event, but an opportunity to identify with the church and seek God’s direction.
“This is not a political gathering. The Church of Jesus Christ is my immediate constituency. That is why I am here, to see my people,” she said.
Dr Egbara urged Christians to remain steadfast in their faith and resist every form of compromise, noting that the strength of any society is rooted in its spiritual foundation. She explained that beyond informing the church that she had secured her party’s ticket, she had come to symbolically place that mandate before God through His Church, seeking divine guidance and wisdom for the journey ahead.
She expressed confidence that God has a special purpose for Obubra, declaring that the longstanding negative narratives associated with the area would be transformed through God’s intervention.
“God is interested in the land of Obubra. With God, the negative narrative about Obubra will be rewritten. Nigeria will hear of Obubra, and the world will hear of Obubra,” she declared.
Dr Egbara also expressed appreciation to the leadership of CAN for receiving her warmly and for their unwavering commitment to praying for the peace and development of the land.
Responding on behalf of the Christian leaders, one of the senior ministers commended Dr Egbara for recognising the place of the church and intentionally engaging with Christian leaders. He observed that such a gesture had been uncommon among many past leaders, describing her visit as a demonstration of humility, reverence for God, and appreciation for the role of the church in nation-building.
The CAN leadership assured Dr Egbara of their continued prayers, asking God to grant her wisdom, guidance, protection, and strength. They also prayed for peace, unity, and lasting progress in Obubra, expressing hope that God’s purpose for the people would prevail.
