The Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Cross River State Chapter, led by Tim Ekawu, Esq., has announced the reconciliation, integration and reabsorption of the erstwhile team led by Mr. Julius Udayi into the mainstream structure of the party in the state.
The development marks a significant step towards restoring internal cohesion within the Cross River PDP, was contained in a press release on Friday, the 18th day of September, 2026 following a period in which the Udayi-led group operated separately from the mainstream party structure.
In a press statement issued by the Caretaker Chairman, Tim Ekawu Esq. said the reconciliation followed a series of high-level engagements aimed at resolving differences and rebuilding unity within the party.
According to him, the returning group has demonstrated genuine remorse over past disagreements, unaligned activities and public statements which contributed to divisions within the party. He noted that the latest development was founded on forgiveness, mutual respect and a shared commitment to the future of the PDP in Cross River State.
Ekawu emphasised that the strength of the party depends on unity and collective purpose, stressing that the reconciliation had effectively brought an end to the existence of parallel alignments within the party.
He assured all returning members of equal treatment, full participation and access to opportunities within the party structure, irrespective of their previous affiliations.
The Caretaker Committee, he stated, had resolved that all returning members would be fully reinstated and integrated into their respective wards, Local Government Areas and the state party structure, without discrimination or marginalisation.
He further disclosed that the returning members would be immediately incorporated into the party’s unified campaign architecture. This, he explained, would precede the constitution of a Central Campaign Council by the Caretaker Committee to harmonise campaign strategy, coordination, deployment and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the forthcoming elections.
The PDP leadership called on old members, returning members and prospective members who share the party’s democratic values to work together towards strengthening the party and advancing its political objectives in the state.
The Caretaker Chairman said that, with the internal reconciliation achieved, the party’s attention would now shift towards the forthcoming elections, with efforts focused on mobilising support for its candidates.
He described the reconciliation as a product of the patience and commitment of party elders, stakeholders and members of the peace committee who facilitated the various engagements that culminated in the restoration of unity.
Ekawu expressed confidence that the renewed cohesion would strengthen the party’s organisation and grassroots mobilisation as it prepares for the elections.
He concluded by assuring PDP supporters that the party had entered a new phase of unity, collective purpose and renewed commitment to democratic governance.
