August 2026 Chinese car sales/deliveries rankings: BYD maintains top spot with over 440,000 units sold; Leapmotor continues to lead emerging EV market by significant margin

    August 2026 Chinese car sales/delivery data have been released. BYD continues to hold the top spot with 440,293 units sold, followed by SAIC Motor with 357,007 units. Chery, Geely, and Changan also remain in the ” 200,000-unit club.”

    Among emerging electric vehicle manufacturers, Leapmotor maintained its sales volume above 100,000 units, continuing its reign as the top-selling new energy vehicle brand.

    In addition, the company with the largest year-on-year increase on the list is Zhijie Auto, which achieved sales of 8,561 vehicles that month, an increase of 404.2%.

    Daily Lamp has compiled the following list of car sales/deliveries for August 2026 (including currently released data from car manufacturers; however, the statistical methods for delivery and sales differ, so the data is for reference only; Xiaomi Auto only released data for “over 30,000”; therefore, the ranking is based on 30,000 and does not represent the true ranking.
