Osakorigho alleged that a woman paid N20 million and subsequently collected $10,000 at the lawmaker’s office

A popular Delta State-born content creator, Diamond Dietanuru Osakorigho, has accused the member representing Obanliku/Obudu/Bekwarra Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Peter A. Akpanke, of allegedly collecting millions of naira from several people under the guise of helping them secure government contracts and jobs.
In a video commentary, Osakorigho alleged that after Akpanke assumed office in 2023, the lawmaker allegedly contacted several persons and presented contract opportunities to them, asking them to raise and pay large sums of money to facilitate the deals. He claimed that some of those approached were allegedly encouraged to borrow money if they did not have the required funds.
According to the content creator, one of the alleged victims is an elderly woman who he said was persuaded to borrow money from her cooperative/contribution group to raise funds for the purported contract. Osakorigho alleged that the woman paid N20 million and subsequently collected $10,000 at the lawmaker’s office.
He further alleged that the woman was not the only person affected, claiming that other individuals allegedly paid N30 million, N80 million and other substantial amounts in connection with purported government contracts and employment opportunities.
Osakorigho said the alleged victims have since formed a WhatsApp platform to coordinate their concerns and that the group currently has between 10 and 15 members.
The content creator also released footage which showed the elderly woman confronting Akpanke in his office and demanding the return of her money.
According to Osakorigho, the woman had repeatedly sought a refund after allegedly becoming unable to cope with the financial burden created by the money she borrowed. He claimed that the lawmaker had subsequently started making payments to the woman but alleged that there had been disagreements over the repayment of interest on the money she borrowed.
He further alleged that the woman’s money had been sourced from contributions and loans within her conservative society and that the situation had affected her health.
Osakorigho also accused Akpanke of allegedly threatening some of the people demanding refunds with the Department of State Services (DSS).
He appealed to the DSS leadership to ensure that its officers are not used to intimidate or oppress anyone pursuing legitimate claims, particularly the elderly woman whom he alleged has health challenges.
The Delta-based content creator described the allegations as disturbing, questioning the conduct of elected lawmakers who, according to him, should be protecting their constituents rather than allegedly engaging in questionable contract and lobbying arrangements.
He also warned members of the public to be cautious about dealing with the lawmaker over purported government contracts or jobs.
Osakorigho questioned how the alleged victims would recover their money if Akpanke fails to secure re-election in 2027, asking what would happen to those still waiting for refunds.
