The convoy of the Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, was on Sunday, at about 1:39 p.m., involved in a road accident in Ugep, Yakurr Local Government Area of the state, while returning from Obanliku Local Government Area.
The convoy had travelled to Obanliku for a successful stakeholders’ engagement on the proposed concession of the Obudu Ranch Resort.
Preliminary findings indicate that the Government House Press Bus, which was conveying some appointees and other staff of the Office of the Deputy Governor, reportedly veered off its lane near an Army checkpoint in Ugep and crashed into three sandbag barricades.
The cause of the accident is yet unknown, as investigations are still ongoing.
One person was reportedly seen with an apparent leg injury, while another was observed bleeding from the nose. The extent and nature of their injuries could not immediately be ascertained, pending proper medical assessment.
Further details on the incident and the condition of those involved are expected as authorities continue to assess the situation.
