In a strategic move to re-energise the State’s creative economy and motion picture industry, the Cross River State Government has officially announced the appointment of the prominent media and culture administrator, Mr Eric Anderson, as the new Special Adviser for Callywood.
The appointment, which was contained in a comprehensive list of executive deployments released from Government House, Calabar, over the weekend, underscores the administration’s focus on utilising proven infrastructure and institutional memory to drive its local content policies.
Anderson, a veteran actor and well-known industry insider, brings an extensive portfolio of public service to this specialised governance portfolio.
Having previously served the State with distinction as the Commissioner for Tourism and as a former Commissioner for Information, his transition into the leadership of Callywood is viewed by industry stakeholders as a deliberate matching of capacity with purpose.
During his previous executive tenures, Anderson was instrumental in championing local creative talent and spearheading critical partnerships with national filmmaking bodies, such as the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN). His efforts were central to projects aimed at revitalising world-class infrastructure within the state, most notably the recovery and commercial activation of Studio Tinapa to attract mainstream Nollywood productions.
