The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has uncovered an illegal firearms manufacturing and repair network in the Okobo and Eket areas of the state.
During a raid conducted on June 2, 2026, the police recovered 15 guns, gun-making materials, gas cylinders, toolboxes, and a live cartridge.
Two suspects, Effiong Ekpenyong, 39, and Godwin Nduaesa, 78, were arrested in connection with the operation.
Police said investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other members of the network.
