At the HarmonyOS 7 | HUAWEI Mate XT 2 and All-Scenario New Product Launch Conference on September 7th, Huawei officially launched the Mate XT 2 Extraordinary Master, a brand-new tri-folding phone with a starting price of 19,999 yuan.
One of the biggest highlights of this new phone is that it is equipped with the first logical folding T chip – the all-new Kirin 9050 Pro.
Jin Yuzhi, CEO of Huawei’s Intelligent Automotive Solutions BU, posted an article last night discussing the new Kirin processor:
The Kirin chip is back! The Kirin 9050 Pro is the first high-performance chip to adopt logic folding technology, debuting in the Huawei Mate XT 2 Master Edition. I’ve been using the Mate 40 all along, and it was equipped with the Kirin 9000 from back then. In six years, Kirin has undergone a rebirth, marking a new milestone for domestically produced chips. The path of self-developed chips is finally seeing the light of day!
According to reports, the Kirin 9050 Pro arranges logic units in layers within a single chip, like upgrading from a single layer to a duplex. It adds vertical interconnect channels internally, much like adding an “elevator,” resulting in shorter signal transmission paths, lower latency, and better performance.
The Mate XT 2 tri-fold phone, the first to feature the Kirin 9050 Pro, achieves a 42% performance improvement compared to the Mate XTs thanks to deep collaboration between software, hardware, chip, and cloud technologies.
