The management of the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas (FPOG), Bonny, has warned prospective students and members of the public to beware of fraudsters demanding money for admission forms into the institution.
In a disclaimer issued by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Anthony Ogbe, the Polytechnic said it had received reports that some unscrupulous individuals were collecting money from unsuspecting admission seekers under the guise of selling forms for admission.
The institution stressed that it does not sell forms for admissions conducted through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and does not carry out admission-related transactions through individuals.
According to the statement, the Polytechnic operates as a corporate institution governed by established laws and procedures, adding that all admission processes are conducted through official channels.
The management cautioned prospective students against dealing with unauthorised persons, warning that fraudsters were taking advantage of admission seekers to defraud them.
It further emphasised that the Polytechnic would never demand payment from any individual in exchange for admission and that its staff members were not involved in such illegal activities.
The institution urged members of the public to remain vigilant, noting that being adequately informed was the best protection against fraudulent schemes.
