It was another day of gratitude as the people of Etim Ekpo Local Government Area on Thursday reaffirmed their support for Governor Umo Eno following the inauguration of a new Model Primary School at Utu Nsekhe/Utu Ikot Eboro.
The commissioning marked another major intervention by the Governor Eno administration in the area, adding to a succession of projects delivered as part of the Governor’s development drive across the State.
The new school provides a modern learning environment for children in the community and reflects the administration’s emphasis on expanding critical social infrastructure at the grassroots.
Representing Governor Eno at the ceremony, Emmanuel Enoidem, SAN, said the project was a direct manifestation of the administration’s ARISE Agenda and its commitment to ensuring that no local government area was left behind in the distribution of development projects.
Mr Enoidem said the administration had constructed at least two road projects in every local government area, alongside other major social infrastructure.
“The Governor has rightfully implemented the ARISE Agenda, and the evidence is visible across the state,” Enoidem said.
He described the model primary school as another landmark achievement demonstrating the administration’s commitment to the people, adding that all APC candidates in the area will get the support of his people.
Chairman of Etim Ekpo Local Government Council, Mr Gideon Uwa, described the area as the highest beneficiary of the state’s ongoing project commissioning season.
Mr. Uwa said the frequency of projects being delivered in Etim Ekpo demonstrated the Governor’s commitment to the area.
“Etim Ekpo is the highest beneficiary in this season of commissioning”.
He noted that a road project had been commissioned in the area only a few days earlier at Obong Ntak University, while another was expected to be commissioned within days.
“We had one project commissioned just a few days ago, today we are here to commission another landmark project, and in a few days, we will commission yet another one.
“This is a clear symbol of the Governor’s love for the people of Etim Ekpo,” he added.
Hon. Uwa also highlighted the importance of the school to human development, saying education remained fundamental to securing the future of children in the area.
“When you give the people education, you have given them all indices of human development. Through this school, you have given us infrastructure, and the future of the children of Etim Ekpo is secured,” he said.
Providing technical context, Education Commissioner Prof. Ubong Umoh said the Utu Nsekhe/Utu Ikot Eboro facility was constructed from the scratch according to state specifications.
He said the construction approach distinguished the facility from other model primary schools and reflected the administration’s infrastructure policy.
Commissioner for Youth Development, Dr. Ekerette Ekanem, described the school as one of the finest facilities constructed by the administration across the 31 local government areas, linking the investment to youth development.
Goodwill messages were presented by the Village Head of the community, the woman leader of APC and other stakeholders including former council chairman, Uduot Jack and former House speaker, Barr Nse Ekanem.
