The Cross River State Government has terminated the contract awarded to Sydney Construction Company for the construction of the Obanliku–Obudu–Abuochiche–Mfom–Okpoma Road, citing poor performance and failure to meet contractual obligations.
The termination was through the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Hon. Pius Edet.
The decision followed a comprehensive assessment of the project by a team of engineers led by Edet. The assessment revealed unsatisfactory progress and the contractor’s inability to execute the project in accordance with the approved specifications, quality standards, and contractual requirements.
In line with its commitment to delivering durable infrastructure and protecting public resources, the Cross River State.
The government revoked the company’s contract, stating that the affected road project will be reassessed, with plans to engage a competent contractor capable of delivering the project to the required standard for the benefit of the people of Cross River.
