Local Government Area coordinators and members of the Obi-Kwankwaso (OK) Movement in Cross River State have passed a vote of confidence in the movement’s State Coordinator, Hon. Egwu Arong, urging him to remain in office and continue leading the chapter.
The position was contained in a letter dated September 6, 2026, signed by coordinators of the movement across various Local Government Areas of the state and addressed to Arong.
The letter, titled “Vote of Confidence and Continuity in Office as State Coordinator,” said the coordinators and members considered continuity of leadership necessary at the current stage of the movement’s preparation and mobilisation activities.
According to the coordinators, replacing the state coordinator at this point could disrupt ongoing activities across the Local Government Areas, weaken coordination and distract the chapter from its responsibilities.
“Your experience, accessibility, and working relationship with coordinators across the State remain valuable assets to the Movement,” the letter stated.
The coordinators subsequently resolved that a vote of confidence be passed on Arong as State Coordinator of the OK Movement, Cross River State Chapter.
They also formally requested him “to remain in office and not step down as State Coordinator,” while pledging continued cooperation, loyalty and support in the discharge of his responsibilities.
The signatories included coordinators from Boki, Obudu, Obanliku, Odukpani, Yakurr, Ikom, Etung, Bakassi, Calabar South, Ogoja, Calabar Municipal, Akamkpa, Obubra, Abi and Yala, among others.
The development comes amid preparations and mobilisation activities by political movements ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The coordinators urged Arong to accept the vote of confidence in the spirit in which it was given and continue leading the Cross River State chapter.
“The Movement in Cross River State stands with you,” they stated.
The Obi-Kwankwaso Movement is associated with former Kano State Governor and New Nigeria Peoples Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, whose political movement has continued to mobilise supporters across Nigeria.
