Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued three kidnapped victims following a distress call over terrorist activities along the Dandume-Sheme Road in Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The operation followed information provided by residents about the presence of terrorists operating along the major road.
In a statement issued on Friday by the Media Information Officer of JTF NW OPFY, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the troops, in collaboration with personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, swiftly mobilised to the area after receiving the distress call.
Danja said the security forces engaged the terrorists and overwhelmed them with superior firepower, forcing the criminals to flee into the surrounding bush and abandon their victims.
He added that the troops subsequently combed the area and rescued the three kidnapped victims, while two vehicles allegedly used by the terrorists were also recovered.
The statement read, “Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA (JTF NW OPFY), rescued three kidnapped victims following a distress call from residents on terrorist activities along the Dandume-Sheme Road in Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State on 3 September, 2026.
“Acting on the distress call, troops in collaboration with the personnel of the Nigeria Police swiftly mobilised to the scene and made contact with the terrorists, overwhelming them with superior firepower. The terrorists fled in disarray into the surrounding bush, abandoning their victims.”
According to the military spokesman, the rescued victims and the recovered vehicles were subsequently handed over to the Divisional Police Officer, Dandume.
He said troops had continued aggressive patrols in the area as part of efforts to deny terrorists freedom of action and protect residents.
Danja said the successful operation demonstrated the resolve of troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to safeguard the lives and property of law-abiding citizens across the Joint Operations Area.
He also appreciated members of the public for their continued support and urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest security outpost.
