The Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny, has continued to promote practical, hands-on learning through academic excursions designed to connect classroom teaching with real-world experience.
As part of this effort, students of the Department of Science Laboratory Technology (SLT) visited the BUC Water Plant and NLNG Nature Park on Tuesday, September 1st, 2026, for an educational excursion.
The excursion was organised to deepen students’ understanding of concepts taught in the classroom by exposing them to practical and tangible experiences in a real-life environment. The visit also aimed to strengthen student engagement, improve knowledge retention, and encourage a broader appreciation of science and nature.
Beyond academic learning, the outing provided an opportunity for students to develop important social and emotional skills, including teamwork, communication, empathy, and resilience. It also supported diverse learning styles by offering an interactive setting in which students could observe, explore, and learn through direct experience.
