When the government of Prince Bassey Otu finally remembered Ikom, he turned the entire town to an abandoned construction site.

As 2027 election campaign commences today, I decided to travel to Ikom to visit critical areas in the urban community.

I shudder to see the level of neglect of even the most basic amenities in the economic hub of the state.

The few road projects initiated by the government are in various stages of abandonment with most of them constituting bigger obstacles to pedestrians.

Imagine the INEC Office that coordinates electoral activities in the entire central senatorial district is completely impassable. It is indeed an eyesore at worst and a fish pond at best.

If nothing is done urgently to complete this project, the distribution of non sensitive materials to the INEC Office in Ikom would be seriously hampered.
