The federal government and states in Nigeria have been urged to prioritise good governance, the pursuit of people-first policies and social amenities as the greatest antidote to insecurity.
Speaking at the recent Security Summit organised by the Cross River State Government and the Department of State Security Service (DSS), legal practitioner and Director-General of Good Governance Advocacy International, Sir Leonard Anyogo, Esq., recommends the Cross River model to the federal government and other states of the federation.
Anyogo who looked back on the years of insecurity that bedeviled the state in the past, said proactive security strategies, community involvement and the protection of citizens’ rights and privileges has led to improved security.
Commending the summit, he stressed that it is important for security agencies to collaborate instead of compete. He said community buy-in is important for the people to trust and assist governments and security agencies.
